Hi all! I'm Susan, a US-based (specifically, Miami, Florida) content marketer and strategist. I've spent the last 12 years executing thoughtful content mainly for B2B tech companies, with some health & fitness thrown in as well. I've owned the blog and customer story initiative for multiple companies, have plenty of experience developing long-form reports, guides, eBooks, etc, and have excellent editing skills.
I have plenty of other tools in my toolkit, feel free to ask me about them (content auditing, branding, website migrations, the list goes on) š I'm a busy mom of a kindergartener and I'm looking for new work opportunities. Can't wait to connect!
I know this isn't a customer marketing or advocacy job, but we're looking for an Event Marketing Manager at Egnyte. Maybe some folks here have the right experience. Check it out at:

If anyone is looking for a VP level Customer Marketing role, LMK - large ENT org experience will be required. Happy to connect you with the hiring manager who is establishing the function. The JD is also not even made yet but there's an opportunity to create what you want. Could definitely be a dream job for someone
Would you consider candidates on the west coast? @Ciana Abdollahian
Hi all!
I have a Senior Manager, Customer Lifecycle Marketing position opening up at Snyk. This role will lead a team of two, focusing on customer communications, onboarding, and adoption programs.
The ideal candidate will have experience building and scaling customer lifecycle marketing functions at companies with multiple products. They should be comfortable with ambiguity, have a strong vision, ability to execute and be a skilled collaborator. Bonus points if they have experience in a fast-paced environment and have helped establish KPIs for a new program before.
We have made a ton of progress in less than a year but looking to bring on a seasoned lifecycle marketer to help us build on the momentum and mature our customer lifecycle programs.
If this is you or someone you know, please reach out!
Anyone try a free or paid AI mock interview tool?
Would anyone that is seeking a new role like to meet weekly or bi weekly on a check in call to discuss progress, opportunities, and tactics? We could meet after the weekly Friday call. Like this message with a Thumbs Up if so!
Instead of āhigh energyā in job descriptions, why not say exactly the desired qualities?
It says Remote USA, @Sofia Silva, so I doubt it.
Never hurts to reach out to the company and confirm tho.
Do you know if this role is open to people outside of the US?
Happy to help!
just shared this with THE perfect candidate-thank you!

Looks like a support role with nothing to do with advocacy.
Hey all! I am going to be hiring for a Marketing Programs Manager soon. Working on getting the official job posting up, but attaching the approved job description here.
Couple notes for consideration:
ā¢ This is a $100K OTE salary based on experience. Want to be upfront about that. We are open to someone with a little less experience who is eager to do this type of work, and I'll personally be training that person. (We also have a $3,500 education budget for each employee you can use to grow & develop.) While there's room for growth, I would also expect someone to be doing this for at least a year before transitioning.
ā¢ Open to US candidates. Remote role. A few state restrictions (not quite sure which yet).
ā¢ This is not explicitly CMA. I am building out customer programs (awards, virtual conference, case studies/customer stories, expansions campaigns, etc.) so definitely an opportunity to get close to the customer and I would love this person to also be a champion of customers!
ā¢ This is LARGELY a content role with a significant amount of speaking and writing involved (think: hosting webinars, interviewing people, creating blogs & resources, etc.).
ā¢ This is also a performance-based role. We are tied to key acquisition metrics and conversion rates (and eventually expansion opportunities).
Here's why I think this role is exciting:
ā¢ incredible industry (customer & partner education), incredible customers (Google, Amazon, Reddit, etc.), incredible team (including me! haha). So much opportunity for growth in this industry, and we're just getting started.
ā¢ You get the opportunity to work cross-functionally, with customers and co-marketing partners, etc. If you like working with lots of different people, you'd love this.
ā¢ If you like working on a diverse portfolio of projects and programs, this will also be fun. That's what I love mostāyou get to do a variety of things.
If you think this is you or someone you know, please reach out!
@Ciana Abdollahian - thank you for the update, I understand ;)
I'm half-heartedly looking and agree with everyone else. I think especially Marissa's point about the retention/expansion/lifecycle roles being combined with advocacy, which I personally like because I have a background in lifecycle but not as much experience with advocacy, so I'm trying to branch into that. I think salaries are remaining relatively flat compared to last year from what I've seen. And TONS of competition. The last role I applied for had over 400 applicants.
Whatās everyone seeing in the job market lately? Post and share your insights please!
Hi @Karen Thomas! Looking at your background I feel your experience is a better fit for the advocacy role we have open. Unfortunately, we are only open to candidates in Boston right now but if we open up the search I will make sure to update this community!
So many retention/expansion roles!
@Kelly Diamond - only one way to find out - if you can have her contact me at
- I will submit her resume!Hi @Kelly Diamond - I am not sure about that but I can check with my team and let you know what I find.
I have a candidate who would be perfect for this! @Maria Braune would you be open if I connected you? If it's remote, do you think the team might be open to a candidate in Canada?

Not necessarily the best fit for this channel but seeing as it's related to jobs, thought I would post here as a place to start -- Is anyone on the job hunt using Teal or similar resume AI tooling? There seem to be a number of these Ai Resume builders that have cropped up as of late and curious if any of them are worth the $ and if anyone has had good results leveraging one (or more) or them. Thanks @Gary Hoffman. I've worked in Boston for 4 years but made the decision to move back home. So more interested in finding a company in the US that would be open to someone living in Australia working for them

@Jessica Noland are they all US based roles?
So sorry to hear about this! Sending some hugs, and will definitely send you director-level job opps I encounter ā¤ļø
I am searching!!. Thanks for letting me know @Erin Emery
Hi @Nikki DuBerry I'll be hiring a customer marketer based in London for Asana in the next few months. Are you searching?
Hi @Mary Green (Owner CMAweekly) Iām looking for a new role. UK based but willing to consider Europe
Thank you
Dang I wish I had more retention-specific experience. Working on that right now but doubt I have the experience necessary to stand out against the 200+ applicants on LinkedIn.
@Megan Donaldson at Zoom FYI, I just submitted my application. Iād love to learn more.
@Megan Donaldson at Zoom amazing JD!!! Let me know if anyone changes their mind about EMEA remote. š¤
@Taylor Page ha you were the first person i thought of!
In Atlanta you say?? Iām not actively looking but might be interested in an intro @Evan Huck ā letās chat!
Yeah, itās a little stinky.
I'm looking for something remote or hybrid from Toronto š
If anyone is in the SF area! (Not affiliated, but did find out AudiencePlus has a job board)
Thanks @Tracy Carson, I have dmād you!
I'm looking to hire a similar role on a contract basis to start - not limited by geo - and in fact I would welcome the EMEA-based support. @Nikki DuBerry and @Angela Kelleher would you DM me your resumes?
@Jake Sotir I rechecked my email string and in late 2022 they were advertising for a customer marketing manager, not a senior manager. I withdrew my application when I learned Iād need to take their aptitude test just to get to a phone screen for a role I had the impression might not pay much, so why bother (canāt recall why I thought that). They circled back again in January 2023 and I asked more questions, including the salary, and was told they were budgeting in the mid-90s. Then they filled the role as a senior marketing manager. Maybe they realized they werenāt going to get someone to take on the role at the non-senior level and lowball salary.
I think the current director who started in the role an was quickly promoted would be nice and collaborative to work with, and the Glassdoor rating isnāt that bad: 3.6. 2.9 for women though :(
@Megan Donaldson at Zoom thanks so much!
She said she has two roles. I had already seen and applied to the one above.
@Megan Donaldson at Zoom Super interested if you would be open to remote work from Ireland?
Itās frustrating that all the good senior customer marketing roles are predominantly US based. I struggle to find suitable senior customer marketing roles in the UK. Itās making me think about changing career maybe into Customer Success. Has anyone got any tips for making this transition?
@Megan Donaldson at Zoom Is this open to UK applicants or just US?
Update; they just gave me access to premium! So maybe write a nice support ticket to save the $40 a month?
How many folks in this group are looking for a new job? What are you each looking for?
@Kyle Tansley thanks for your post on LinkedIn. I went ahead and paid for the year as $39 a month for job seeker premium is robberyā¦ especially when we are all getting so much spam and most job posts are scrapped from other sites.
Also, they used to have premium support for paid members, and my support experience today after I rejoined was underwhelming and my issue went unresolvedā¦ except for the promise to escalate.
To both of you, I'd happily use my paid-search capability on nights/weekends to search for job opps for you if you provide me with the criteria š
Cara, wow! I am so angry that LinkedIn is pulling shit like this.
Jennifer, I think our search result differences were because I used quotes around "customer marketing" and yours was open ended, allowing Marketing roles that mention Customer anywhere to seep in
Iām on a trial @Cara Peterson and have invites to sales navigator, I looked bc Jennifer Lyons mentioned it.
When I was laid off I reached out to linkedin if they have any promos for people who were out of work, I will update if I hear anything. I just moved cross country so $40 / month is a little high
I'm was searching the same thing as Kyle yesterday and did not see those jobs pop up! I do not have premium
Interesting, what are you searching?
Fellow job seekers, is it just me, or is LinkedIn not returning customer marketing/community/advocacy roles lately?
Today's funny. I've heard of career pivots, but this one might be a biiiiit of a stretch, LinkedIn āļø
NEW JERSEY: My company (iCIMS) is hiring for a Customer Marketing Program Manager. Please reach out if you are interested and have any questions about the role! Having experience using Influitive would be a huge plus.
Hi all, I was laid off from my position. If anyone has any leads for advocacy positions (ideally a company with a team) please let me know
Lovely.
Kind of an odd one to post here, but figure the job might be a fit for someone or someone who knows someone.
Or even a team.
Looking for: Sales/BD support (contract -- individual or agency)
Case Study Buddy is going to be looking for some interim sales/business development support while I'm OOO on paternity leave in November/December.
Someone who can field inbound calls that I could train up in the months of September/October. The volume is very manageable right now, but we need someone to handle it while I'm out. We're also open to someone who can do some outreach/lead gen as part of this.
It's a tall ask on a short deadline, but I'm throwing myself into getting whomever up to speed and ready.
If you know a vendor or a person who might fit the bill, please feel free to DM.
Hi everyone, I was part of a huge round of layoffs at Pantheon in July (our team went from 24+ people to 11). I'm actively looking for senior customer marketing manager roles or lifecycle marketing manager roles. Would appreciate any leads and happy share my network. Thank you!
@Alexie Glover hello hello! I'll DM you
Hi folks! Stripe is hiring a contractor position to manage our Customer Reference Program. We're looking for someone experienced with reference tools (we currently use RefEdge) and is passionate about working closely with sales leadership to drive program adoption and growth. Any contractors out there interested in dipping their toes into contracting through an agency? Early days, but there is an opportunity on the horizon that would offer the right person the chance to get in with a stellar team supporting even cooler clients. DM me
For anyone interested, I may be able to make an introduction here.
I have an opportunity for a contract-based Customer Marketing role (minimum 90 days with potential to turn into full time), really strong leadership. Not the right fit for me but happy to discuss with anyone whoās interested!
A recruiter reached out regarding a Director role over Lifecycle Marketing at an online mental healthcare company, looks like a cool opp. Is anyone looking I can refer?
@Ciana Abdollahian thank you!
@Abby Hyson I reached out to the hiring manager and she said she needs someone in the UK
Has anyone interviewed or applied for the Toast job?
Remote, director-level job touting benefits such as "sometimes jeans" and "omg PAID time off". Job market is wild right now...
Fun! Love this brand, and they used to be one of my customers.
Hi @Mo, it looks like the CMM role has been taken down.
Not sure about the broken links, I will be sure to share this feedback with our team! Thank you.
Just a general comment to everyone that posts job listings here especially in the areas of customer marketing/advocacy and reference. A huge thank you for sharing and letting us know about these great positions. I truly feel like Iām in a community and I know all of us who are looking for our next āhomeā really appreciate this.
Also, clicking on some of the listings (e.g., the Global Head of Paid Search one) shows this page.
The CMM role seems to be unlisted - is there a separate link?
Iāve seen this posted as hybrid and remote so it might be worth applying either way.
Hi all - I'm looking for a contractor to help with Influitive admin... ~8-10 hours a week. Let me know if you know of anyone!
@Marissa Bird hi! also, anyone interested feel free to DM me about this role/team... i was there a few years ago also and know a thing or two š

Hi Mary, I interviewed with the recruiter there at Versa as I was a perfect for their role and he was going to send me on to the HM but I never heard back.
Anyone have any thoughts on Versa Networks - DM please š
Hi @Charlotte Weiss and @Bree Bunzel. I'm based in UK and equally have an interest in the CS roles that pop up state-side. Keen to apply my blended skillset and focus more on CS. Would love to connect and share thoughts and experiences. Ajay

Anyone with CMO aspirations? Let me know if you are interested in this position. Confidential āCMOā search for a large, private equity owned company headquartered in the Midwest. This is a recurring revenue business, operating across the U.S., on its way to 2 million customers.
We are looking for senior-level marketers who have deep experience with recurring revenue businesses, whether subscription-based or membership-based. The priority is finding someone with deep customer acquisition experience, but we will consider marketers who lean towards loyalty and CRM, too.
The company is headquartered in a large metro in the central time zone, and while the CEO would like the new CMO to live locally, and be in the HQ office five days/week, hybrid scenarios are possible.
The profile weāre seeking is detailed below:
ā¢ Recurring Revenue ā Subscription-based or Membership-based business models
ā¢ Acquisition ā Priority is customer acquisition experience (KPIās: CPA, LTV)
ā¢ Traditional Tools ā Radio, TV, Outdoor, Direct Mail, Print
ā¢ Digital Tools ā Paid Search, Paid Social, Email, Display
If this opportunity sounds interesting to you ā or someone you know ā please reply with a resume, for our eyes only. Weāll take a close look, and if we think there is strong potential for a match, weāll get back to you with more details on the company, compensation, etc.
This one specifically is #lifecycle and Customer Marketing (no Advocacy that I see) and @Luke Reynebeau is in the community.

!Cover letters and thank you notes: old school or much needed? If yes on thank you notes, who do you include? Recruiter for phone screen? Hiring manager only? What practice do you like to follow?
@Kyle Tansley I was really excited when I saw the role given I have supply chain, healthcare, and ecommerce experience. The feedback I got when I spoke with them was that I am overqualified. Did I read too much into the job description? Are they trying to lowball on salary? It seems like they could definitely benefit from someone with more experience.
Very helpful! Thank you!
Hi all! Iām looking for a contractor while I am out on mat leave to cover a few essential customer marketing programs - primarily our Client Advisory Board and our monthly community newsletter. This would start in August. Please DM me if you might be interested or have questions. Thank you!
Hi @Bree Bunzel thank you for sharing, would love to connect and hear more! Keen to hear about the pros and cons, and how you were able to find a company open to hiring a global role in ANZ. Even my own company has said that global roles are really just meant to be based in EMEA and NA, so definitely want to hear more!
Hi @Charlotte Weiss š I'm based in Sydney leading CM globally for Dropbox š It was a long journey starting out in a regional APAC PMM role and building momentum & impact. A lot of pros (best of both worlds, afternoon flow time) and some cons (ie. waking up 4:30 AM for calls most days, lots of travel). Happy to connect to share more
Found a job I am very interested in. Got a referral to the hiring manager who was impressed with my background. Several people at company looked at my LinkedIn profile and I was invited to interview. Had phone screen today with recruiter and she said I was overqualifiedā¦They feel the role is a āleadā and not even a manager, yet they want someone to implement their program from the ground up. I am so deflated. Anyone successfully get past this āoverqualifiedā label?
I thought this job ad mentioning exhilarating was kinda funny.

Thank you soo much! I applied to CallRail before I joined this group but I havenāt heard back. I saw your comment on LI and I also sent her a short message introducing myself. I would love if you could speak to her as well. I appreciate it so much!
I will also likely have a role opening up next week - I will post here for sure!
I am sorry to hear! I see that CallRail is hiring a Customer Marketing Manager, I know the hiring manager and her Director as I used to work there. Happy to put in a good word for you.
The job is expansion focused, so take a look and let me know if that's up your ally.
The team is amazing and overall a great place to work. I would definitely go back if I were able to get a role at a higher level.
Hi all,
I was recently laid off and am currently looking for a role in customer marketing. I have extensive experience in the field (about 6 years or so) and also have an MBA. Please let me know if you or someone you know may be hiring (especially if it is a remote role). I am attaching my linked in profile below. Thank you in advance!
Thought I would flag that

Hey all, my son is looking for a part-time online job, he doesnāt have a lot of training, but heās got my help š Heās willing to be entry level. I think a paid internship would be good. Do you know of anything?
@Kristine Kukich makes sense! I loved working in Boston, and there just isn't the same sort of passion here in Sydney when it comes to tech companies
@Tim Jahn would be incredible at this!
I think it's size driven, @Charlotte Weiss. We have one Aus-based person right now on our CS team, and would certainly accept applications from anyone else that might like to join from there.
I always love seeing these customer advocacy jobs pop up, but I'm based in Sydney, Australia! Would any of them ever hire someone fully remote from Australia? Not open to jobs at the moment and very happy in my current job, but in the future it'd be great to work for a US company (West Coast for timezones), but continue living in Australia. I lived in Boston for four years, and made the move home to Australia just 1.5 years ago, missing those American tech companies!
Any experienced contractors looking to pick up a new client in the near future? The Porter Consulting client base is growing and we're seeking at least one more person to join the team for ~15-20 hours of work, likely beginning July or August. We're specifically looking for people who have contracted or worked for/with an agency before. Please reach out via DM with any questions.
or both!
Either a bad recruiter, or not a real job.
i still haven't heard back from the recruiter. interesting that the VP came up through customer marketing!
A recruiter reached out to me about this role as well and I said I was interested in speaking with the company and I got a strange response that was delayed.
Doubt I'll be hearing from them. I did also notice the VP of Marketing at Aspire came up through customer marketing. And, as mentioned above, brought on his former CM manager from UserTesting.
Fun fact: I recently realized Iāve applied for the same role THREE timesā¦with three different agencies! I applied over a month ago and met with a recruiter. Never heard back. Applied the other day and recruiter called and told me the name of the client. I applied for another role and a recruiter called and it was the same company. I went through my notes and realized it was the same client who has several different agencies looking for candidates. SUPER frustrating
Yeah its so frustrating when they arenāt actually hiring but have a promising position listed.
@Marie Elliott yupā¦constantly over last few years. I was rejected at Veeva and I have healthcare AND customer experience.
The one at Veeva gets reposted constantly also.
Yes, I see something similar with Drata, thatās been around for awhile. I really dont think they are hiring.
Intermittently I do look back to see what jobs Iāve interviewed for are still posted and unfilled. Today I looked at Signifyd. I applied in Jan. got and interview in Feb. through a referral, got a prompt rejection, and at the same time noted that many other fantastic folks in our community have applied. The role has ārepostedā as fresh/new on LinkedIn several times and is still on their website. It seemed like a really good role and they were just being picky, but I noted the person who referred me in is no longer there, so maybe things are not good there. Just wanted to share my experience as itās frustrating applying for roles that go on hold, arenāt real, etc.
Good point, Cara.
From my time in sales only some states require consent for recording calls (For example California requires everyone to agree to being recorded), but I think every time I was interviewed they were recorded by the employer so maybe you could ask for the recording after the interview?
Does anyone else record their interviews? For your own listening/improvement, etc?
Do we all agree that $38/hr is way too low for this very specific role:
Hello Jennifer, I came across you on Linkedin and wanted to check If you are currently available in the job market and interested in the Customer Advocacy Manager position. So, we can discuss this further. Please feel free to reach out at your convenience and call me at
Please note that this is a part-time job and the standard week would be 25 hours. They can discuss flexible timing with the HM during the offer or during the interview.

I donāt! I think she came in right after I left
@Val Geisler unfortunately I don't know the hiring manager

@Kevin Lau I have to ask...didn't F5 just have layoffs? How is it that you're get 4-5 roles? In other words...when so many of us are being asked to do more with less, what's your secret to doing more with more in this econ environment?
@Kevin Lau if you want to know what a pleasure it is leading @Tim Jahn I will hop on a call any time and wax poetic for you
This is a partner marketing opp I thought might be interesting
This came across my LinkedIn messages - let me know if you would like an introduction to Collette about this opportunity.
This is a great question Jennifer. As a freelancer, I struggle with this myself. I landed on a portfolio with detailed project descriptions but without naming clients. I only name them when Iām asked to provide a reference. Itās not flashy, but it gets the job done.
Hi fellow CX professionals. Question: those of you who have tackled creating a portfolio or website for your āworkā what have you included and how did you make it cohesive and in line with your core activities? How have you handled so it doesnāt step on past employers toes? Do you even try to capture those cross-functional projects that never took flight but you spent a lot of time on?
in LA no less!
Fabulous, thanks!
Please send their information along because I think she is going to need to be flexible. I have made introductions for a number of people in a variety of locations. I will DM you my email address.

Hello Channel: I have a bit more detail now, so Iād like to reshare my original post. If someone has expertise in community management for Higher Logic Vanilla and ideally experience working with more senior IT roles, I have a client looking for a 3-6 month full-time contract. This community would run more like an advocacy program than a traditional community. They need help with implementation and then management from point of launch.
If you are interested please DM me. Feel free to tag anyone who you think might be as well. Many thanks!
Ty this is great. Would you be willing to share on a jobs/career call sometime?
Totally happy to talk to anyone about how this came about! My new role is focused on growth product marketing aka lifecycle aka customer campaigns. I have a lot to learn about the new role and company, but it was 100% with help of others that I figured out how to position my experience to be relevant for this role. Please reach out here or on

Hi there! I am new to this channel. Thanks @Jeanne Talbot for adding me! Happy to be here. :)
I was laid off this morning and I am fresh and new on the market! Previously, I was working for Microsoft as the product marketing manager within the worldwide learning team focused the customer experience. Currently, I work for MasterControl as their Customer Marketing Manager focused on customer experience. My last day is next Wednesday and I am eager to find the next opportunity! Yes, I remember the salary being low.
Different Director on that team now though.
Great company, enjoyed the team I did meet. And used to work with them in partnerships. Always a good time.
I want to say I interviewed for that ages ago as well. They hired someone "cheaper" and local.
I think they were hiring for that role late last year, too. Maybe just something similar?

!Hey all! Posting for those looking for an open opportunity.
I am headed to a new opportunity in a few weeks, and would love to help my current company backfill my role. The role is Customer Marketing Manager, but I believe could be changed to Sr CMM or even Director (as you manage & strategize the whole thing).
This is a true customer marketing function, covering lifecycle, CS at scale, product GTM for customers, expansion, advocacy, and strong focus on community. The company is primed for customer marketing to really take off and be wildly successful. New Sales & CS leadership bought in to be partners.
Youād enter the role with projects in flight to pick up, and lots of runway to make things your own and improve it.
You can probably tell Iām super excited for whatās in store.
If that sounds interesting to you, please reach out. Would love to connect, share more, and answer any questions.

Great post!!
Job at Notion if youāre local to SF or NY (in office required days). Great brand
I saw that, it would be working with Daniel C. he was previously at ChiliPiper and Pavilion. Heās the head of community.
Saw this Head of Customer Marketing at posting today

@Audrey Zigmond did the post yesterday on LinkedIn help at all?

Sharingā¦ I applied at ontra for a senior customer marketing role at the end of January. They ended up promoting from within and changed to role to focus more on writing. It looks like a great opportunity but would focus almost exclusively on interviewing customers and writing case studies. The new title for the open headcount is Customer Advocacy Manager (Financial Writer).
If you are interested DM me and I can hopefully provide some additional insight.Hi CMA community! I lost my customer marketing job a few months ago, and I'm looking for a new one in NYC (or Remote). Could you do me a big favor and "Like" this post so it gets more visibility? Anything helps š
BTW, if your company is hiring I have 8+ years of global SaaS marketing experience, 6 of the last where I specialized in customer marketing. I'd love to connect if you know anyone looking for a creative, passionate & collaborative candidate like me.
I would be cautious yes, however, if you are in need of a position and money itās understandable to take what you can get. I hate saying that, but if we dont have food and shelter, we canāt really keep job searching.
Were you looking at the reviews for customers or employees? Whatās the company? I dont think thereās any harm in sharing as it helps others be cautious.
I'm looking at a role in Customer Support Management. Not exactly Customer Advocacy, but could be a good step toward professional schmoozing with those departments. Several different review sites' reviews are 4.3-6 range. However, Glassdoor is 3.3 and several reviews on G2 mention frustration at "no phone number to talk to a person." For me this puts the role in the "tread cautiously" category. Thoughts?
Based on that idea from Jake, please look at Glassdoor reviews, few people leave negative reviews so if there are multiples, take time to really consider working with a company.
Iām trying to remind myself that itās ok to be picky when looking for the next opportunity. And not to jump at one just because itās there. I received an offer yesterday from a company that Iām more than likely going to turn down. A lot of it gut feeling, some of it is some not-so-great Glassdoor feedback. But itās hard to say no to something when you donāt have anything else to fall back on!
Share what you are up to, it inspires each other. Additionally, this call is pretty great
<!channel>the VP, Claire, was very lovely. Seems like a decent opp, iāll keep pursuing it
let us know how it goes!

in case you're looking at exploring other job boards@Jennifer Lyons if you can DM me the links I can look, sometimes thereās some weird filter exclusions that happen
Hereās one way Iāve searched on Google for positions that arenāt always on LinkedIn: Note the tools section of Google says past month.
You could try putting the "mid-senior level" or just "mid-senior" in the search bar instead of the filter and see if that helps.
Searching by skills is also helpful, though maybe not in this case, which is pretty specific. My problem is the opposite. I ask for something specific and get all kinds of nonsense back.
One thing you could try is searching certain key terms that would appear in a job description rather than a specific title
A few different ways, but for example: search term ācustomer marketing managerā and then filter on āmid-senior levelā āRemoteā date posted āPast weekā
A senior marketing manager role a contact shared with me did not show up despite it fitting with the above criteria.
Please share how you are searching so we can help š This happened to me before too.
How are you searching now, Jennifer?
Any of you nice folks have any suggestions/advice on job search criteria to use on LinkedIn? I keep finding instances of jobs that I believe should show up in my search donāt.
Hi All--twice in one day Iāve seen jobs for customer marketing or community management that want a portfolio website with examples of my work and the associated business outcomes just to apply. Pass?
I'm working on Mary's #1 "Confidence Sells." This is really effective. A variation on this theme is writing your LinkedIn Profile, "Tell me about yourself," resume summary, cover letter the way you think your biggest fan would - maybe a manager who believed in you, a mentor or coach, a friend... This idea is to get out of your own way. I love this idea!
It was a great session. I learned a lot about how to approach (and not approach) an interview...things I had no idea I was getting wrong. I also learned a ton about ways to go about a job search that I hadn't heard anywhere else.
NP, Iām really trying to encourage you all to share your experiences here, it helps to have the support of others in this journey.
ahhhh so sorry I missed it. was planning on joining and then something came up that pulled me away. thanks for the recap!!
@Mary Green (Owner CMAweekly) - thank you for organizing the he call. So many great ideas. I certainly learned a lot today and going to try adopt many of these. I look forward to to sharing how things go and collaborating with this wonderful community!
Extremely helpful! Thank you for sharing!
If you missed todayās Job Seekers call, you missed a really good one.
Hereās what we covered:
1. Confidence sells - how do you sell yourself (maybe you need to sell yourself as if you are your client to eliminate that emotional attachment)
2. Personal branding - how do you stand out (being awesome isnāt enough - you have to be different, and have an IT factor to stand out against 400-500 also applying for that job)
3. Flux in the Job Market - even getting a job isnāt reliable with others being laid off after a few months - companies do not seem to care.
4. Cold Outreach - you donāt have to wait around for a job posting, start emailing and asking if they need help in Customer Marketing - it works for sales, why not us? (Iāve done it successfully for years). Thereās very little competition.
5. Use short messages (sounds more genuine) - Hi, Iām Mary, Iāve helped companies scale advocacy through their community efforts. Is this an area where you might need help in the immediate future?
6. Finding people to reach out to - Focus on industries, companies who are customers for certain tools, people active on LinkedIn, CMOs who talk about advocacy, etc. Some industries are more stable today than others.
7. Collaborate with other Job Seekers in our profession - seems counterintuitive but Customer Marketing people constantly give to each other. Youāll learn which companies have dead ads up (they arenāt really hiring), who takes forever to hire, why others were turned down, etc. Get active in this channel. Letās help each other get work/money/hired!
@Jake Sotir @Tyler Johnson @Jennifer Lyons @Samyuktha Narayan @Kathy Fava @Lauren Turner @Marcus Painter
Invite others who want to collaborate to get hired.
Thursday at 12PM EDT we will have a zoom call for Job Seekers, maybe you can join us and we can discuss some ideas. Maria Sturgeon suggested job options beyond Customer Marketing as 1 topic.
it's all good, but I appreciate it. tough time to be at a tech startup. i'll land on my feet!
OMG, @Jake Sotir I am so sorry. That really stinks.
hey all - in a cruel twist of fate after a very fun morning, I've been let go from Reprise due to sweeping budget cuts. If anyone has anything open, please keep me in mind!
