I'm open the next few weeks before 4pm Central, except for 1/31

#general - January 15, 2025 at 02:23 PM

I'd be up for it

#general - January 14, 2025 at 10:02 PM

Working on this now as well. Couple things:
• We've restructured our CS team a bit to dedicate some folks to further developing exec relationships for accounts.
• We've developing our first CAB and targeting exec-ish level participants.
• We've started a CEO roundtable series targeted at exec-ish level participants at customers that haven't recognized the larger value of our offerings beyond the original legacy product that put us on the map.

Great topic! I'm always thinking about how the work of the two teams together ties directly to revenue, be in retention or expansion.

I'm a one-person customer marketing team at a ~200 person company. I'm happy to share what I'm thinking about for 2025 if that size org is still relevant for you.

#general - January 08, 2025 at 07:29 PM

I love this recent LinkedIn post from @Mark Huber about focusing on screenshots of LinkedIn posts, Slack messages, or email replies as actual proof from customers, rather than grand polished traditional case studies.

I'm ideating around collecting more of these small nuggets in our company (there are plenty), but many come from our implementation phase, which is a several month period where the customer works with our implementation team to fully setup and integrate the software.

How do others use positive testimonials from these periods of a journey? Do you anonymize it and use it for marketing, etc? Do you ask the customer to get it approved so it has a name/face with it when using it for marketing, etc?

#general - January 08, 2025 at 07:19 PM

@Jeanne Talbot - That's a great idea! Our scale is smaller (we have less than 200 total customers) that it might be better suited for when we've grown our customer base.

#general - January 06, 2025 at 09:47 PM

Our customer base is small, so there may not be many of them at the conferences. I'm thinking if there are opportunities to pull content/value from the conference without customers that can then be used to support sales, marketing, and success.

#general - January 06, 2025 at 09:31 PM

In addition to getting video testimonials and face time with existing customers, what are some other opportunities to be had attending an industry conference? I'm thinking about maybe creating content with attendees (don't have to be our customers) that we could use in thought leadership boosting efforts for our company. I'm curious what others create from conferences.

#general - December 13, 2024 at 11:16 PM

Appreciate both of your insights @Talal S @Irwin Hipsman!

#general - December 12, 2024 at 04:03 PM

Has anybody ever setup an exercise to connect advocates with about-to-churn accounts to prevent churn and help them realize value/get excited from the advocates?

I'm curious if anybody has creative ways to connect these two groups that are effective and valuable to the about-to-churn accounts.

Thanks!

We're holding an intimate virtual roundtable event next week with our CEO and 7 customers. I'd really like to have a recording of the event to review how customers engaged, what they were most interested in, etc.

My gut tells me recording the call will feel less intimate and might restrict some attendees from participating as fully as they would if the call wasn't being recorded. I could join the call, let them know I'm there just to take notes, and sit in the background with no video/audio as I take notes.

This all feels like a lot of work though when AI like Gong has gotten so good at providing call summaries and analysis, which is exactly what I need.

What have others done? Do you record the call?

#discussions - December 04, 2024 at 11:51 PM

@Shelly Ryder Invite is for Tues. Is it supposed to be Tues or Wed?

#discussions - December 04, 2024 at 08:23 PM

I can do that time on Monday or Wednesday

#general - December 04, 2024 at 06:02 PM

📧 I recently started a weekly customer newsletter for our existing customers that solely focuses on providing industry related insights and expertise, not talking about our products at all. The goal is to keep us in the mindshare of existing customers for expansion opportunities by positioning us as trusted experts in the industry.

The engagement has been solid and consistent, and now I'm thinking about targeting prospective customers with the same newsletter/content with the same goal: position us as experts to work with. I have some baseline ideas on how to get prospective customers to sign up for the newsletter and am curious to see what others are doing in this area.

Is anybody doing this currently that can share their approach on how to get prospective customers to sign up for the newsletter and where/how to share the sign up form? Thanks!

If your sales and success teams are automatically recording every call with a customer in Gong, Gong can quickly become a treasure trove of information about your customers.

#discussions - December 04, 2024 at 02:51 PM

Using the Gong search functionality. Which reminds me, their search is also great for finding specific phrases/sentiment (find customers talking about a specific product feature or other topic you want to make a video/write a case study about, find customers that are happy, etc)

#discussions - December 04, 2024 at 02:30 PM

Couple ways:
Case studies / testimonials: Gong's transcripts and AI-generated outlines/summaries are very strong. These are useful as launching pads for written case studies and to grab quotes for testimonials, written or video. Gong is helpful here for getting a sense of whether or not the quote would make a video testimonial as you can watch the person and see their enthusiasm (or lack of), tone, etc.
Video scripts: Building on the first point, I often compile testimonial video scripts using Gong's transcript and video player. Again, great tool here for finding golden testimonials quickly (using transcript search, look for company name) and understanding how customer comes across on camera.
Sourcing: When stakeholders need specific customers for specific things, Gong's search can assist. For example, I had a request to find customers that used our software for corporate hiring in addition to hourly-worker hiring. I was able to source a few customers by searching for phrases in Gong and reviewing the results that came up to understand if the context of what the customer was saying matched what I was looking for.
@Vera Flores may also have some great insight on this topic.

I use Gong a bunch for advocacy related things. Can you elaborate on what you're thinking about?

We have a small customer base (~180 customers) and introduced a blossoming multi-product offering this year. A key focus of mine is thinking about ways to support expansion of customers buying more products.

How do people with similar size customer bases approach being creative with campaigns and results while also not overwhelming the same customer base over and over with requests?

#general - November 14, 2024 at 06:28 PM

Thanks @Alexie Glover! I found this question on that same page had some great qualifications too.

#general - November 14, 2024 at 05:27 PM

I'm embarking on our first Gartner Peer Insights review campaign and this thread is super helpful!

Is there a list of the minimum qualifications for a review to get accepted?

#general - November 05, 2024 at 08:07 PM

I took this one a few years ago and loved it (it's a $500 Customer Marketing Alliance one). This one is also by @Kevin Lau and only $150, so might be a slimmed down version?

#random - October 31, 2024 at 08:00 PM

Same, would love to learn more

#general - October 29, 2024 at 03:29 PM

Depending on the number of customers you have and structure of your company, your product and/or data team might be able to pull some stats for this, both in aggregate and per customer, based on some metrics you all agree you.

#general - October 16, 2024 at 03:17 PM

Love this @Amanda Peacock! I think storytelling can be a wide variety of initiatives and it's all about reaching the right person at the right time with the right message, so this is great. How did you position the group reference events? Like a facilitated Zoom call, or webinar, or in person?

#general - October 16, 2024 at 02:21 PM

Does anybody have examples of b2b storytelling they've seen work for supporting cross-selling efforts? We are a previously one-product b2b company that has launched a (growing) suite of complimentary products on top of the original product, with just under 20% of customers using multiple products.

#general - October 07, 2024 at 08:40 PM

Have you asked your sales team?

#general - October 03, 2024 at 05:02 PM

Has anyone sent customers gifts for the holiday season? I'm curious what other people are doing in terms of:
what (do you send them a gift basket? something more personal)
why (just because it's the holidays? because they're amazing and this season is about giving?)
how (tied into the what - is there a way to make it more exciting than traditional gift giving?)
Thanks in advance!

#discussions - August 26, 2024 at 05:15 PM

Yes, thank you @Emily Amos , the numbers I quoted are for professional onsite shoots with professional editing, etc.

#discussions - August 22, 2024 at 09:05 PM

It ranges depending on the agency but I’ve usually landed in the $10k-$15k per video range.

#general - August 09, 2024 at 07:52 PM

We have several new products launching over the next few months and want to find interactive, fast, and easy ways to illustrate the value of the product to existing customers for expansion. Does anybody have any examples of interactive campaigns they've run to introduce existing customers to new products that give them a sampler taste of the product value?

#discussions - July 29, 2024 at 02:53 PM

Do sales concessions include things like requiring a customer to participate in case study as part of the contract signing?

#general - July 26, 2024 at 04:14 PM

Thanks @Rachel Ward, this insight is very helpful!

#general - July 25, 2024 at 05:43 PM

@Mary Green (Owner CMAweekly) - What's that?

#general - July 25, 2024 at 05:26 PM

Is anybody utilizing G2 beyond seeking more positive reviews? Their lead capture and buyer intent functionalities are interesting, as well as their traditional review outreach tools. I'm wondering if anybody has gone hardcore into a G2 strategy that is delivering ROI (and is worth the $18k). Thanks!

@Angela Ferrante - Would love to hear more about this Laudable! Intrigued by the automatically pulling gold part. 🙂

#general - July 24, 2024 at 02:30 PM

Would love thoughts from your diverse perspectives!

Do customers/prospects actually read and get value out of 1,000ish word case studies that take 4-5 minutes to read???

It’s the industry standard. Long written case studies that get published on the website.

But then they sit there. I’m a huge fan of slicing them up into bite sized assets that can be used for sales enablement, deal closing, marketing campaigns, success enablement, upselling, etc.

But if the slices are what’s important, is it worth the time to create the really long written case study? Should it be a quick summary to post on the website to support having social proof and good logos?

I second the idea of a testimonial quote. A customer story can take many forms, and if you want to focus the big forms on bigger customers, a testimonial quote or review or blog post can be a low effort way for you to feature the customer, while giving them some promotion and exposure.

Also, what’s the growth potential of the customer? Are they small today but could be a bigger brand advocate in the future?

#job-seekers - May 13, 2024 at 04:15 PM

Hi everybody! I'm actively looking for my next opportunity in customer advocacy/marketing or product marketing. If I can help anybody else on the hunt, let me know! Also would love to connect on LinkedIn.

Agreed on Riverside. One of the reasons Zoom is not an ideal solution is the platform doesn’t record each persons video separately. Riverside does (and at high quality), so your video editor can more easily create a professional looking video and have more flexibility since each persons video can be cut together. Zoom switches view based on who is talking (or who Zoom thinks is talking) and you have no control over the final recorded video.

Since much of the content of this channel was general content, would it make sense to keep this channel as #general and make the newly created channel #annoucements? I wonder if this better preserves the history of #general?
