We use Gainsight for customer emails like a monthly customer newsletter or announcements. I don’t think Gainsight is the best for this but I work with what we have for now 🥲 We use Sendgrid as well similar to how Evan mentioned above - password reset, email notifications for our customer education resources, etc.

I think it was Marketing this time (it was a joint project for CS and Marketing, I’m in CS) - this is the first time we’ve done any kind of prize other than a custom trophy!

@Shelly Ryder Yes, we did! We ended up surpassing our award submissions goal this year so something in there worked we have a pretty cool “grand prize” this year too with a trip to Austin, TX which I also think sweetened the deal for some

We just did our awards program and I’d say it mostly came from CS nominations/nudges. But, to help with self-nomination this year, we used: incentives in our customer advocacy program, kind of like Alexie said, our Customer Education team volunteered to meet with customers to do an interview instead of a written submission if the customer said time was a constraint, we also allowed for video submissions from customers instead of just written as we’ve done in years past!

Hi all! Potentially looking to incentivize some internal folks (namely, Sales and Customer Success) to help us with some advocacy initiatives. Anybody done this before and find that one type of incentive works over another? Thinking along the lines of “trying our reference request functionality, give us feedback, and get coffee on us” but unsure if there is something else that might work better. Thanks!

I’m in a tough place where my boss’ boss only wants to solicit positive reviews. I have shared the FTC policies and that we cannot ask for positive reviews. But he only wants to word it in ways that do that. It is really limiting our ability to secure reviews since to me, it’s either we say it in an unbiased way or not at all. We would love to add it to our customer newsletter. Any thoughts on wording that might satisfy both of us? 😄

Anyone who has done customer awards… we are looking at doing an “advocate of the year” award, a customer from our advocacy program. We would love to do “Innovator of the Year” (that is the name of the members of our program) but have received some pushback internally that it’s not super meaningful. We’ve been asked what we might name this category if the focus was more on what the individual/organization can “tout” as being our most engaged advocate? What have they done for their peers and the industry that they’d want to share far and wide? (think like why would they want to share this on LinkedIn) - any ideas or examples of what you have done for a similar award at your org? Other thoughts have been like “Community Contributor of the Year”, etc.

Seeing if anyone has any fresh/exciting ideas for soliciting reviews I feel like I’ve tried everything. Incentivizing doesn’t seem to help much, we still have Influitive and I have tried numerous challenges, campaigns, etc. We were on a roll for a bit and have hit a standstill. We have included it in customer outreaches like newsletters, landing pages, etc. I am wondering if our customers (in the AppSec, developer space) just aren’t interested in reviews in general. Maybe I’m not positioning it in the right way?

@Valeria Gomez A little late, but our customer base is very similar (IT, AppSec, developers) - I’ve received the same feedback - they’re just not looking at/caring about those sites. I have tried every trick in the book and I feel like I just can’t move the needle, lol. Do you have any data/articles that support that developers, etc just don’t care about reviews? I’d hate to continue using my time to solicit reviews if it’s not really making an impact, haha.

We’ve done one! I don’t think it was as involved as other orgs but we worked closely with CS to get submissions and shared the winners at our online user conference. I’d say it’s a great way to get UGC like testimonials, case studies, e-books, etc. It’s a win win! I wish we did more with it honestly.

@Sarah Howell I will say that we had kicked this off before the acquisition, but so far we have had no issues! Our team who is implementing the integration had a couple of questions for Influitive that our CSM got answered and then it was smooth sailing, so this could be something that could pose a problem. _If_ a problem arose, I don’t know who would help 😞

Happy New Year, everyone! I am the first person in a customer advocacy/community management role at my company. I created and launched our advocacy program, among other initiatives. For a while, I’ve been wanting to create a document that goes into the ins and outs of managing the program, and all the random tasks I do associated with it, so if I’m ever able to build my team or just need to share the processes with someone, it’s there.
