I am heading into what I hope will be a big week. I will hear about one role on Wednesday and will be in the 3rd of 4 interviews on Thursday. Here is my question: Does anyone have any strategies you love, that you think are effective in helping make that final pitch to a hiring manager on why you’re the best choice? Or, is the strategy to shut-up and wait? 😂

Obviously, salary is only part of the expense of a new employee. So, I guess, in my mind, that equals a built-in flexibility to negotiate within.

Salary negotiation question: If a job provides a salary range, but I know that I will not be taking health insurance, how much wiggle room would you expect in that negotiation? Is there a widely accepted number or percentage that you all negotiate for?

Uhg. @Leslie Barrett I, like so many others, feel you. I’ve experienced it and felt a lot of the same feelings as you. I don’t think I have any sage advice or can say something magical that will bring you some relief. But, I DO know that what has helped me the most is leaning into the good people in my life when I’ve needed them. Losing a job is like a death. We hurt. We mourn. We question the “what ifs” and over-analyze everything. Like a funeral, everyone shows-up early in the process, which is wonderful. However, the best humans will be there consistently throughout days like the one in your video.
