Thanks @Gary Hoffman. I've worked in Boston for 4 years but made the decision to move back home. So more interested in finding a company in the US that would be open to someone living in Australia working for them

Thanks @Natalie Gullatt, that makes a lot of sense!

Yeah I saw those, always nice to see APJ roles. My question is more around US based companies with non APJ roles being alright with the person working from Aus

I'm not looking for a job currently, but I often wonder if companies in the US would be open to people from Australia working for them, especially West Coast based companies.

Hi all, bit of an odd one. My sister is living in New Zealand and the job market isn't the best. She has a digital marketing background and I'm wondering if any of you have any fully remote marketing roles available! She was recently doing a maternity leave cover for the marketing manager at the Royal New Zealand Ballet

Ahh sucks they don't have these roles based in Australia!

Hi @Bree Bunzel thank you for sharing, would love to connect and hear more! Keen to hear about the pros and cons, and how you were able to find a company open to hiring a global role in ANZ. Even my own company has said that global roles are really just meant to be based in EMEA and NA, so definitely want to hear more!

@Kristine Kukich makes sense! I loved working in Boston, and there just isn't the same sort of passion here in Sydney when it comes to tech companies

@APeacock hi! Thanks, so lovely to be here!

@Ciana Abdollahian definitely been a while! I moved home at the end of 2021 and my husband found he had testicular cancer not long after we moved home. He did surgery and chemo, and it's been a year since all of that. So I haven't been as active as I used to be on these Slack groups! Hope all is well with you!

@Joel Klettke So many! There's definitely culture shock when you move to a new country, but also reverse culture shock when you move back! Australia is more risk averse than the US when it comes to business and tech, though there's definitely more interest and investment in tech than when I left in 2017. There's a huge focus on work/life balance, with people actually having the time to spend with family, friends, or doing activities they like It's a lot more laid back, less of a rush. But I think the fact healthcare isn't connected to your job in Australia has something to do with all of that. I miss Boston though, I miss the passion and the excitement. But Sydney is definitely good for the lifestyle side of things.

I always love seeing these customer advocacy jobs pop up, but I'm based in Sydney, Australia! Would any of them ever hire someone fully remote from Australia? Not open to jobs at the moment and very happy in my current job, but in the future it'd be great to work for a US company (West Coast for timezones), but continue living in Australia. I lived in Boston for four years, and made the move home to Australia just 1.5 years ago, missing those American tech companies!
