Thank you, @Kevin Lau! I've heard about DMing the hiring manager on LinkedIn - typically I don't know them personally before finding out about the position. What are your thoughts on candidates reaching out cold?

✨💼❓Random-ish question for recruiters, hiring managers, and, well everyone - what are your thoughts about jobs that ask you this:
"This employer may use an artificial intelligence algorithm to provide an initial comparison of an applicant’s education, experience, and skills against the education, experience and skill requirements in the job description. This analysis produces a Profile Relevancy score, which is intended to be one of many factors that a potential employer will review in making its interview decisions; there are no cut off scores and all applications are visible to employers.
The Profile Relevancy score for applicants who opt out will be listed as “Not Available.”"Is it more beneficial for a job seeker (me!) to opt in or not? Does it negatively impact someone's candidacy if they opt out, OR does it improve your chances of getting that elusive call back if you opt in? All thoughts welcome!

Hi @Sarah Miller! Thanks so much for sharing the posting - just submitted my application for the role! The opportunity sounds like a perfect fit, and I’d be thrilled to contribute to the team. I'm based in Seattle so that's close to Boulder and I'm very comfortable traveling anywhere and have tons of experience doing so (trade shows, conferences, onsite meetings and trainings, etc.) Let me know if there’s anything else I can share or if you’d like to connect. Appreciate you putting it out there!

@Lauren Turner I'd love to learn more about that! I looked and don't see how to set that up, pardon my novice 😬

@Jennifer Lyons I can totally see why you'd say that, I've experienced increasing pressure there, too. But we've always had to report the quantitative fruits of our labor and defend why we utilize XYZ strategies. I maintain that our true value (to companies that are wise!) that AI or whatever else can't replace is our creativity, ingenuity, and ability to problem solve strategically, which is much more important than spitting out excel spreadsheets of impressions and views and likes and blah, blah blah...anyone can do that!

@Jennifer Lyons You're not wrong, impersonal and the whole JD reads like a phone book. No focus on what's in it for the candidate, so likely a chew you up and spit you out sort of thing. I don't mean to be harsh and hope I'm wrong, but doesn't look like somewhere that values marketing candidates, who are by nature creatives and aren't merely, ahem, "machines".

Thank you all for the replies! These are all super helpful. @Cara Peterson, I get this question mostly from recruiters, but sometimes from the hiring manager. Recruiters/HR managers tend to be quicker to reject and move on (or maybe their write-ups of our initial screening interview aren't interesting enough to the hiring manager to proceed) but by the time I get to the hiring manager they take me more seriously and I get this question less - at least so I think? Everything changes all the time it seems and that's why I appreciate you all's input!

@Lauren Stefano, first of all, I love your snarky side 😂 I definitely think the same thing. These are great answers!

💡Job-seeker Question: When a hiring manager asks, "Are you interviewing elsewhere and with how many other companies?" what is the ideal response they are looking for? Is it better that you are interviewing with 3 other companies and that demonstrates that you're desirable? Or does that make you less desirable because the likelihood of you getting snatched up is greater, so you're shooting yourself in the foot because they will decide, "Bah they'll land somewhere else let's look at other candidates"?
