Thanks for the tag @Shannon Howard! We've done it. Wildly successful. We did this with G2. Happy to share our approach and results. I'm on PTO next week but @Liza McGraw can also fill you in. We opted NOT to do this with TrustRadius (even though they offer the service as well) because their review entry is so much more detailed for reviewers. We didn't want to take them away from the conference too much. I think we paid $5K for the booth and it included a person from G2, some swag, charity donations per review, etc. They bring all the equipment.

We just hosted a G2 reviews booth at our customer conference and captured 48 enterprise reviews in one day - all 9s and 10s. It was $5,500 and they send a person to staff the booth and they bring incentives and we offered a $30 gift card, Motive hat and G2 bumps it up with a $10 non-profit donation. Super successful. One thing we learned: be sure to think strategically about the booth placement on the floorplan!

I've never thought of them as "spotlights" but I guess they could be considered that. I've always thought of spotlights as like a social card with a quote but perhaps everyone has their own definition.

For city choice, I look at where members are and try to find a place that is direct flights for the majority and is under 1 hour from the airport. I also think about the states that we want to be associated with, or not, so that we make sure it is safe for members of the LGBTQ community to travel to those states. There are states that will never be on my short list. Location choice is also very dependent on the time of year and weather.

I also think we need to nurture the CMOs who do get it and get them on the speaker circuit within marketing. conferences that THIS is the topic of the year or even team them up with their CCO for what Forrester calls "the power couple" type of presentations.

Often times leaders who don’t understand need to hear from someone they see as an authority. Laura and Amy are experts in our field from Forrester. Typically if you have a subscription to Forrester you get access to their research but you can also schedule inquiry calls and ask them questions about the structure and scope of responsibilities for certain roles for example. Having this kind of conversation with your leader, and Forrester could shine a light on the ways that your new leader is setting the team up for a lack of success. Let me know if you’d like to talk about this further. You’d have to have a specific marketing subscription to Forrester in order for this to be realistic but it’s just a thought.
