I have a friend who might be interested, is the job remote?

#general - March 22, 2024 at 06:49 PM

Sort of? More of a technical peer support forum vs. true community, but it's what I have to work with alas.

#general - March 21, 2024 at 04:08 PM

Maybe make a checklist of what data fields are available to use when creating an audience so your stakeholders have a reference for discussion.

#random - March 19, 2024 at 05:41 PM

Maybe doing a promotion to grow the number of customers subscribed to the company email list?

#random - March 19, 2024 at 04:57 PM

Anonymize quotes (if it's a written piece) or remove altogether, otherwise it's misleading. It sucks when this happens!

#announcements - March 01, 2024 at 05:14 PM

Oh no! Hope they feel better soon.

#open-share - February 15, 2024 at 05:57 PM

Maybe an e-learning course? The most interesting example I've seen is a collaboration between a tech company and an online school for teaching lawyers about legal tech (something that is not usually covered in law school).

#announcements - October 10, 2023 at 04:56 PM

Maybe focus more on the use case specifics and less on the weaponry, making the fact that they sell weapons incidental to the story? I'm not sure if that's possible but worth a shot.

@Crystal Anderson How do I get on the invite list?? Haha, but seriously, those activities sound amazing. Are the costs comparable to a physical send?

#announcements - September 20, 2023 at 05:48 PM

I think it made more sense when everyone was in the office and you could give one gift to the whole team (snacks). Now that everyone is scattered it seems less impactful. If it were me, I'd rather receive a personalized card from the vendor with how much our business has meant to them/year in review notes on what we've been able to achieve together. Donations are good too if you know it's a cause I care about.

#announcements - September 19, 2023 at 08:52 PM

My suggestion would be to dig deeper into the "why", what benefits will customers get out of attending this virtual session vs any other activities they have on their plate for that date? Right now it reads more about your company vs the customer. I know you want to demo your new product for me, but how will the product address my problems and save me time/money/efficiency? For example, you mentioned a brand-new operating model for marketing teams...but why do I need a new operating model? Does Uptempo make it easier to collaborate with my team members? Is it going to save me 27 hours a month in meeting hours? Reduce costs by $X? I can't tell you what to insert here because you know your audience and their pain points better than any of us. I don't think it's a bad email, it's just missing the deeper connection to your audience and speaking their language.

But if you just want to know that Disney has ever done a case study, then no it wouldn't have to be anonymous. (Just using Disney as a random example)

#announcements - September 14, 2023 at 04:31 PM

I think so if they discuss the process around getting the case study, which is where I'd find more value. Knowing that Disney did a case study for Brand A doesn't mean they'll do one for my brand if we don't have the right relationships in place, audience crossover or some other "cool" brand factor. Disney might be happy to do a case study about a partnership with a hotel their customers might stay at but less happy to do one about their legal department's contract software.

#announcements - September 14, 2023 at 04:24 PM

It would be tricky because the submitters would have to be anonymous most likely. You would also want to ask things like how long did it take to produce, what industry the case study was in, etc. For some reason I'm imagining the customer marketing version of the FYPM database.

#announcements - September 06, 2023 at 07:02 PM

At my old company I had our Salesforce team add a checkbox field to the customer account for logo permissions so I could easily pull reports. Otherwise maybe some kind of project management software with Kanban boards tracking the stages of the reference/case study development? My old company used [Monday.com](http://Monday.com) and my current one uses Asana.

What's your AI presentation topic on?

#announcements - August 29, 2023 at 08:57 PM

In person or virtual engagement activities? A few things I have done for webinars and virtual conferences that were popular: webinar-themed bingo cards with prizes, themed Spotify playlists, polls, trivia

#jobs - August 24, 2023 at 04:00 PM

Not sure if it's the same role but I interviewed with them for a senior manager CM role early last year and they ghosted me after two rounds of interviews. Hopefully you have a better experience.

#pets - August 23, 2023 at 05:12 PM

That seems like personalization effort gone horribly wrong.

#pets - August 01, 2023 at 08:19 PM

Never thought I'd be jealous of a dog's birthday party! Looks like a great time. 😍

#pets - August 01, 2023 at 07:20 PM

Here are my three cats/home office managers, I was trying to find a pic that included our goldfish but no luck.

#pets - August 01, 2023 at 07:09 PM

Adorable! No judgement here, just awe.

We used to offer justification letters for folks, but found they weren't being used. We did sales incentive campaigns to help push the Sales team to do personal outreach to their customers to encourage registration. We also did "Know Before You Go" webinars aimed at people on the fence about registering that 1) highlighted what was exciting about our event and 2) what value the event offers them that they can't get elsewhere.

#announcements - July 24, 2023 at 06:29 PM

You may already be planning to do this, but for point#2, I would also break out a list of specific moments or feelings from the event I want to capture for future promotions. Like, I want a photo of customers smiling and engaged with the session content, I want a crowd shot during the keynote, I want a photo of someone being festive during our opening night party, I want a photo of customers interacting with each other or customers being assisted by our employees, etc. Being specific helps inform your photographer of what key moments to look for.

I love seeing everyone's pics! Back in April we went to Japan and went to many of the typical beautiful sites, but on our last day in Osaka before we headed to the airport, we went to the Cup Noodles museum. In addition to learning the history behind the brand and its founder, you get to make your own custom instant noodles as a souvenir and decorate the packaging. We have a soft spot for weird museums but this unintentionally turned into a customer marketing learning opportunity for me.

#announcements - July 06, 2023 at 03:29 PM

Hi! I'd be happy to participate if you still need volunteers

#announcements - June 21, 2023 at 08:53 PM

This is heavily industry-dependent, particularly a concern for customers in compliance-related fields or government customers. I used to work with state & local government agency clients which had a clear dollar amount limit that they can accept from a vendor (I think it's $20?) and anything else has to be reported.

#announcements - June 14, 2023 at 08:35 PM

I think B, done correctly, can be really powerful. Have you taken a look at your customer data to see what those bears have in common? I think figuring out the why will help with the how (tactics). Like If they tend to drop off after initial log in, maybe there are barriers to product adoption and the communications need to center around that. If they achieved the solution to their initial problem and don't come back, maybe they don't see the ongoing value of the product and the communications need to center around that. An example I can think of is if I were pregnant and subscribed to a pregnancy nutrition newsletter, I might stop engaging after I had the baby (not thinking about my post-natal nutritional needs). If you can't tell from the data you have, it might be worth sending a survey to see if you get any additional insights.

What's his skillset/interests? Like, does he enjoy writing, good with numbers or languages, detail-oriented, customer service, etc. It might help us share more useful suggestions for him. Taking a look at virtual job board Flex Jobs, it seems like there are a number of part time openings for virtual assistants, content moderation, and college admissions application reviews.

#random - June 02, 2023 at 04:34 PM

Hmm. I think I would focus on community, education and then advocacy. I would start with community and build more opportunities for customers to connect with each other. Through the community, I'd create a customer leadership program to drive customer-led advocacy. I'd also focus heavily on creating more accessible end user education resources instead of keeping them behind a paywall.

#announcements - May 24, 2023 at 03:36 PM

Yeah, if you don't get customer approval for something like that it will blow up in your face. My boss was just sharing with me yesterday how he did a customer testimonial video for a vendor we use and how their marketing team included a quote he said off the record as part of their digital campaign. Never asked his permission to be included in a campaign outside the video. It really damaged the customer relationship.

#jobs - May 15, 2023 at 07:04 PM

$38/hr in San Jose??? With those part time hours you wouldn't even make $1k a month pre-taxes.

#random - May 11, 2023 at 06:23 PM

Lol, chatgpt was only released Nov 2022 so unless you were part of the r&d team pre-release... 😂

#announcements - May 03, 2023 at 05:11 PM

My wins over the last two weeks: • Work: Flew to Chicago to meet my team in person for the first time • Work: Training my team to adopt a more customer-centric mindset, using benefits-focused vs. feature-focused language in our technical how-to communications • Work: Launching a customer education webinar series this summer • Personal: Went on an amazing vacation to Japan and got engaged

#announcements - March 28, 2023 at 06:25 PM

@Kevin Lau Would you also recommend the Adobe Experience League? I too am very new to Marketo

#announcements - March 14, 2023 at 03:21 PM

We usually removed it as soon as we were made aware of the situation to avoid misrepresentation, although we were in less of a hurry if the case study was the only example we had of a specific customer type/use case. I like Mary's idea of anonymizing it.

#jobs - January 31, 2023 at 08:00 PM

Not LinkedIn specific, but when I was job hunting last year, I also found roles on BuiltIn and [peoplefirstjobs.com](http://peoplefirstjobs.com) in case you're looking at exploring other job boards

#jobs - January 31, 2023 at 07:54 PM

One thing you could try is searching certain key terms that would appear in a job description rather than a specific title

#linkedin - January 11, 2023 at 06:10 PM

Yes, that's a great idea!

#announcements - January 08, 2023 at 11:09 PM

YMMV is an internet shorthand for "your mileage may vary" aka your experience may be different from mine. I would say I had medium growth, but I was starting from scratch vs already having a following. I mostly wanted to get in the practice of posting more often vs following a specific formula so I wasn't as focused on numbers. Others on my cohort saw large growth, especially if they used clickbait-type content (one guy posted sales-related memes for 30 days). Leslie was mentioned as a success story to our cohort, so she might be better to answer about how it helped growth. Looking back, I had too broad of a focus and so it was scattershot. I also felt a lot of (self-imposed) pressure add value every day vs just posting for the sake of posting. I flamed out as a result, but I want to try again for myself with a better action plan in place.

#announcements - January 08, 2023 at 09:15 PM

I did the #brand30 back in August. He doesn't suggest topics since cohorts come from all sorts of backgrounds, his training is more focused on how to structure and format content for LinkedIn and how to build consistent posting habits. I liked the course materials better than the live classes but YMMV.

#random - January 03, 2023 at 09:17 PM

I usually say acquisition vs retention to describe it.
