@Ciana Abdollahian and team did this a few times IIRC as part of RSA in SF, so she might have some insights on it in practice.

@Megan Ferenz the customer/prospect lounge is always a winner. Conferencing is exhausting and people have work that they do need to do. So if you can give them that space to chill, recharge their social batteries, do a little work, etc, they will love you for it. Sure you could have some of your people there to chat with them but that experience will stick with them enough that it will pay off. Plus you could always have a happy hour there at some point during the conference to bring people back in a more social/networking way.

Ours is a little bit of a hybrid if that helps @Mary Green (Owner CMAweekly). If it's not something that fits with what you need/asking for, just shout and I'll go hang out with my actual real life tabby ๐

So my back tells me every day @Mary Green (Owner CMAweekly) ๐

It's not linkedin and it's a week late, but since it's been a while since Jacob made an appearance...Happy belated St. Patrick's day from this almost 8 month old (relatedly, where the f did the time go?!?)
#general - March 12, 2025 at 08:11 PM
that sounds like something I would go to.
#general - March 07, 2025 at 04:40 PM
Bravo you @Amanda Peacockfor making the trek cross country for it. I have to be in Chicago for a company conference, so i won't be there either. But i do know several friends should be there, and even presenting.
#general - March 06, 2025 at 11:00 PM
@Dan Kalmar to answer your question, we record all of our conference sessions and post them online afterwards. So we don't really need to write anything up even anonymously to make it available for folks to share. That said, we did build slides out of them to make it easier for the sales folks to use them in their presentations.
#general - March 06, 2025 at 03:47 PM
So my recommendation is to concentate on two places:
โข Speakers -> Fed/Public Sector folks are generally more open to speaking as they can take a 'just the facts' approach to their presentations. This allows them to not seem like they are endorsing any one tool over another, but are instead just telling their story on how they did it for their department, etc.
โข Awards -> Public sector folks love applying for/receiving awards as it's a game of oneupsmanship against their fellow govys. Plus it's a sneaky way of highlighting use cases and logos from folks who wouldn't normally speak or be on the record.
#general - March 06, 2025 at 03:39 PM
๐ i have lots of experiences with this as at my Job -1 we had a yearly Public Sector conference in DC where we needed to supply speakers.
#general - March 04, 2025 at 08:59 PM
W00t! Just blocked my calendar to be there @Mary Green (Owner CMAweekly)
#announcements - February 25, 2025 at 07:58 PM
@Mary Green (Owner CMAweekly) it's been a good long while since we just had an open meeting. Do we think we are due for one of those?
#general - February 20, 2025 at 09:52 PM
Thanks for the tag @Mary Green (Owner CMAweekly). And @Emily Coleman i do have thoughts, but haven't had a chance to come back here yet as we're in the middle of kickoff week, so my brain is a little mushy.
#announcements - February 12, 2025 at 05:24 PM
To echo @Shannon Howard, it's always a breath of fresh air to jump over to this community and see what's cooking on a daily basis.
#cabs - February 07, 2025 at 07:26 PM
@Megan Ferenz you can also take the major themes that y'all speak about during the CAB meeting and turn it into a 'what leaders are saying' type of blog post. For us, we are doing this in a 'what leaders are concentrating on for this year' type of thing. This way it can be anonymous in case folks on the CAB aren't too keen on being outfront and public about their plans.
#general - February 05, 2025 at 03:01 AM
@Jaz Cuevas We try to do regular focus groups (or just 1:1 conversations) with our sales folks either quarterly or whenever we are onsite for events. It's how my team member found out that we should be prioritizing getting our content into LinkedIn campaigns for them to easily share as that's where "sales folks live"
#general - February 04, 2025 at 05:50 PM
I know it doesn't help for the case study itself, but if you can get them to speak on a stage, they seem to be more open to that type of reference as they can be careful about 'endorsement' language.
Or if you can use that case study to apply for a governmental industry award and then they win, that type of thing is public and you can use it going forward.
#general - February 03, 2025 at 05:43 PM
We did this a couple times, one that sticks out is our blog from

At the conference <@U0806J8HHHR>. But the winners know ahead of time so they are there to be honored during the keynote
#general - January 08, 2025 at 11:37 PM
@Nicole Saunders Here's
if that helps#general - January 08, 2025 at 06:49 PM
typeform as a whole is like $76 a month. But that covers our entire corporate account as the application isn't the only thing we run off of the platform.
#general - January 08, 2025 at 06:43 PM
happy to chat @Nicole Saunders. I have an
(you can see it's from 2021) that I should really update as it no longer reflects the makeup of the team. But at least it gives you a sense of a type of plan. But I'm actually going through some re-planning at the moment, so that would be awesome timing for me as well.#general - January 08, 2025 at 06:36 PM
We run ours through Typeform. @Madeline Coke our is currently live right now, so if you want to see how it works, it's right here:
#general - January 06, 2025 at 09:45 PM
Building off of the video testimonials, you can also just do in person interviews with customers for written content. Those are less heavy of a lift than all of that equipment.
Also, and I know @Ciana Abdollahian has done this at various RSA-type events where they have a customer lounge for their customers that are in attendance as a place for them to relax and work away from the show floor. Also, if y'all have executives in town at the same time, you can bring there as opposed to the booth as it's a lot easier to have conversations in the lounge than at a busy booth.

We had another one of these during our midyear planning/kick off this past August @Shannon Howard where we threw in another little carrot for our customers who joined us...
Aa private little (CAB-esque) feedback and planning session with our SE and Product leadership who happened to be in town as well for the event. Plus we had a VIP dinner that night for them.

It's everyone's favorite season...No not the winter/holidays...
I'm talking about
season. I know many of you work at companies that use Grafana in some way shape or form. So if you happen to see a dashboard at your offices or know of someone who is doing cool shit with our open source software, I would greatly appreciate if you could encourage them to apply as they could be one application away from a free trip to Seattle, an actual Golden Grot statue, and a chance to meet and spend time with me and my team (the last part is probably not as fun as the other two)Oh and if nothing else, a like or comment on
post would be much appreciated. Thanks, y'all!#discussions - December 10, 2024 at 06:34 PM
What @Alexie Glover and @Shannon Howard have shared here is absolutely perfect.
One thing I would double click on, though, is the last point @Shannon Howard made as it's hard to codify. But I would describe it as Pride. Do your customers/winners view it as somethign worth sharing with the world and how do they end up doing it. With both the Grots and the awards at my previous role, we had winners put it up on their website or in their collateral without us even saying 'hey, can you do that for us'.
But in general, it's hard to put a number or a metric on pride.

Things you love to hear from a potential advocate "Oh we don't have comms or legal, so you don't have worry about them"
#general - December 03, 2024 at 08:26 PM
True @Val Geisler. But I did get to experience it with Jacob for the first time so Iโll take that (and the national championship last year)
#general - December 03, 2024 at 04:52 PM
And i'll second @Shannon Howard's congrats as well!

welcome back @Val Geisler! Great to see you here. (oh and Go Blue! ๐)

@Kathleen Connelly...to echo what @Joel Primack said, I would also see if you can track how much $$ was spent before and after acts of advocacy. We do this with content and let me tell you when i show that report to our GTM team, they instantly see a way for them to get paid more if they help us get connected and get a piece of content published.

@Perri Chaikof I might have a lead on this one as a friend of mine is looking. But as a quick clarification, is the remote part only remote in Canada? Or does remote also mean from the States as well?

well you see @Alexie Glover this is why i said you have some good knowledge. Knowing what not to use is just as valuable as knowing what to use.

@Kevin Lau @Alexie Glover @Ashley Ward I know y'all have some good knowledge in this space

What platforms are people using to run the application process for their awards programs? For reference, we use typeform and that has worked well enough over the first two years of the Golden Grots. But in the name of evolution, I wanted to see what else was out there before we launch year 3.
#general - October 18, 2024 at 04:39 PM
I'll have to catch the recording as well @Mary Green (Owner CMAweekly).

Would you look at that?!? Meet Jacob Benjamin Palay. Born Friday, July 26 at 2:11 am after putting his poor (but badass) mother through 23 hours of labor. He was 7 pounds 10 ounces and measured 19 inches. We are now home and learning how to do this life together. Plus Jacob has his own baby Grot already.
