Hey all! I am sure there are previous conversations on this, but would love people's recommendations on a Community Platform tool. Some key points we're looking for: 1. Ability to leverage for external display on our website on a community page to showcase maybe certain events or elements we want to make public, but then also the ability to login and get into the full community access 2. Ability to access it via a mobile app or even just a good mobile experience for on-the-go members 3. Ability to house resources to use it as a education hub and courses 4. Ability to have forums, but segment for specific members/groups 5. Potential ability to support groups that are international - i.e. a dedicated forum or view for customers in Mexico and in Spanish - it's okay if we have to do the load in of teh Spanish language, but the flex for international 6. Security - ensuring that it's a secure platform for customer data that we capture. Of course, open to any other data points you all have recommendations around what we should consider and where you have seen value in creating communities?

Hi Elyssa! We recently launched Gainsight Customer Communities. We have a very niche use case but I can comment on some of these features.

  1. Not sure how the displaying would work but you can have a public community and then signed in users would be able to participate in forums. Gainsight own community is set up this way so you can check it out.
  2. No mobile app but it is mobile responsive.
  3. We house some educational content. You can upload several file types and include videos. Haven’t tried scorm or anything
  4. We have personal communities for each of our customers and then have the ability to gate forums by custom role. Some of our security trimming is custom code but visibility for forums can be configured easily out of the box with custom roles.
  5. Another area we haven’t explored yet but I do know they support localization (to what degree and what support, I’m not sure)
  6. I’m in a highly regulated industry and we got approval and find it to be - only challenge might be going back to #1 if your community is private vs public. You could probably use custom code to designate what’s visible for logged in users with specific custom roles vs. guests. So far we really like it - we’ve put in a few requests for future enhancements so there is definitely room for improvement. It’s easy to use and clean interface. Support team has been helpful.

My initial thoughts given this list (and very TBD based on budget & users) are:
• Slack + Tightknit — if you want to prioritize mobile first then this would likely be the best option)
• Discourse
• Khoros’ Aurora
Hope it’s helpful!

I really liked disco for community. I had some issues with the course section but I believe that’s taken care of now. Happy to chat on community platforms.
