I'd like to get better at making slides that look really polished and tell a strong story. Has anyone taken a great course, or do you have any resources to recommend? I'm looking for something focused on visual storytelling and creating design elements - I want to get better at deciding what to put on a slide and how to lay it out. Is there a class on design for non-artistic people?

Following!

Do you use Google Slides or PowerPoint at work? I have a 150-slide "presentation" with templates of different types of visuals that you can bring into your own company's presentations easily. Please DM me if interested.
My favorite book on presentations is an old one (the author has passed away but I had the privilege of learning directly from him when I worked as a consultant):

Hi @Lauren Stefano! I didn’t take a design class but what I have done in the past is ask our design team to create a template slide that I could use over and over again.
The slide (specifically for customer stories) featured our branding but allowed for an image of the customer, a short description of the story, a pull quote and a section for the link to the full story.

Have you tried playing around with some AI slide deck tools? I did last year, and this one was pretty amazing:

I took an in-person course from Duarte pre-2020 that was probably the best course I ever took for improving presentations. Post-2020 they have reconfigured a lot of their courses and resources and have a lot more you can find online instead of through in-person courses. Highly recommend checking them out.
and then check out what else they have to offer to see if anything fits your needs.

Thanks for the great suggestions! I suspect that finding the right AI tool is a big part of the solution here. I will give Gamma a try. And I'll also look into the Duarte courses and the McKinsey book! And of course, more templates are always helpful.
