Hi there! Does anyone have experience with video software like vocal video or shoutout to collect videos from advocates in their own time? Iām evaluating options and would love to hear if these are (a) effective, (b) as easy to use and edit videos as they seem & (c) any experience with one vs the other.
THANK YOU š

@Jeanne Talbot has evaluated a few tools and has been posting a lot of her content on LinkedIn recently!
I've used Vocal Video in the past and loved the flexibility, ease of the product. There are a lot of players in the arena right now that are making great advancements with their tech/offerings.
The thing I love about these tools/tactic is that the advocate doesn't need to do anything fancy. They can respond to the testimonial request in their own time, from whichever device they prefer.
Editing seems to be the big differentiator among the tools and the factor I would pay most attention to when evaluating vendors. I'd recommend looking for a tool that allows you to edit mid-clip as many of those available only allow you to trim the beginning or end of the clip(s).

i've used both - they are both pretty dang good - and generally the concept is great - easy/quick but professional looking

I've used vocal video in the past, it was fairly easy to use. It took me a bit of time to learn how to to do the editing but at least I was empowered to do it myself vs relying on a third party

Thank you both!! Any pro tips or things to be mindful of for editing?

Prepping your advocate is key and includes things like:
ā¢ Describing the ideal recording location (low noise, front-facing light, etc.)
ā¢ Outlining how to place your face in the recording frame - this is very important if you want to use the name/title feature so that this information doesn't cover their face
Some folks like to be on Zoom with their advocates while they record to help direct the shoot.
Like Perri mentioned, it's a good idea to invest some time familiarizing yourself with the recording and editing process. Our team would often record ourselves responding to the prompts and edit those test videos down to get an idea of how best to advise our advocates on their participation with personalized tips. Paying attention to the small details like what the initial frame looks like (before you press play, ensure your advocate looks good and doesn't have their mouth open or eyes closed, etc.).

Thank you so much!!

We just bought Vouch but I haven't launched it yet - I can report back, but so far I like the UI!

Hi Lacey! I've used SlapFive for customer testimonials, and it's worked really well.

To Lauren's comment, if you're also looking for a way to tie customer content usage into revenue or manage any other aspects of a customer marketing or advocacy program (reference management, customer lifecycle marketing, driving reviews), SlapFive is a broader platform. But these point solutions for video are all good from what I've heard if that's the only thing you're looking to do!
