Has anyone here done any freelancing work in customer advocacy or other customer marketing initiatives?
Several have. I do it. Are you moving into it?
Yes I am! I'm working on my mission statement now ... I have never freelanced before and wondering if there's any tips from others especially in this community who have done it
I can mention a few people tomorrow so they can weigh in :)
Thank you!!!
You’ve probably already planned for this but there are some highlights I wish I knew before jumping into consulting
• having a strong client diagnostic / assessment process to determine fit is mission critical - sometimes declining collaboration can save you time and money later
• Having a solid Time tracking tool is a must
• Time to value on project deliverables may be a better for your services vs project hourly rates
These are a few that came to mind. Wishing you well on your journey!
Thank you @Ryan Gutierrez, Community Agility Specialist!! 🙏
Yes, as a general overview I'm thinking a "done for you" type of service, where I basically assess the current state of their customer experience by meeting with all customer facing reps, then interview 1-2 customers and build a customer success story/case study from there. They can then use those data points captured from my assessments to build future campaigns, lay the groundwork for an advocacy program, identify repeatable patterns of success, etc.
I think by charging a flat fee at the beginning, that might avoid the challenges that may come from a hourly rate model. That was great input, so thanks for mentioning that!!
Would you like my thoughts on it from a Community consulting perspective, @Aylin Siu?
Yes I’d welcome your thoughts!
For those new in the freelance space, please, please review your business insurance before you pitch clients. It is so important to be insured, especially for accessing client data/information.
