So I received an offer for a Customer Advocacy Manager role yesterday at Virgin Media O2. I specified my salary expectation in the application as it was a mandatory field so figured they would be able to meet this expectation before starting the interview process which involved a presentation. What a waste of my time!! When the recruiter called with the offer it was £30k less than what I specified. I told them it was too low and she said she’d see if they could increase the offer. 30 mins later I got a generic email saying my application was withdrawn. Then an anonymous text this morning saying sorry but we are unable to meet your salary requirement for the role. I think I dodged a bullet if that’s how they operate!

Sorry that’s an awful experience, Nikki ❤️

Agree that it sounds like you dodged a bullet, per se, by sticking to your guns.

I’d be disappointed and irritated too.

I’d love to hear from folks in HR why the processes between talent acquisition and the hiring team are so disjointed at many companies. I’ve read there have been a lot of layoffs in HR too.

I think we are all seeing large compensation drops in the market…
