QQ- are all of you paying for G2 or just going with the free tier?
We aren’t very big (small customer base) and are on the services end, so we opted to go free and manage our own program
If we were saas or in a competitive vertical we would benefit more from access to the analytics, content, and whatnot but as it stands we just don’t see much upside there for the size and state of our business.
Thanks for the insights Joel! Do you still get the badges with the free version?
Better to ask a G2 person.
I honestly don’t know
oki dok thanks
are you in no-vendors? We’ve discussed that in the past few months. If you aren’t in there, let me know.
Yes I am there :)
we pay for it - This is my second time/company and in both I've seen higher response rates to the emails that come from G2 so the campaign management is worth it to me.
we also pay for the content package but i think that really depends on your category, your placement, your plan for content and promo, etc.
thanks for the insights Ashley!
We pay for it. Although, I've been running my own email campaigns
Good to know- That would be our case too. Thank you all!

What factors would you consider in choosing the review sites you use and paid for? I do have a mini course on the
website (free) but it is more focused on choosing review sites to have a profile and be a part of your strategy.I should probably not say this outside of no-vendors, but in my experience the review sites are all really pay-to-play, so if you want to see any significant value, you should expect to have some sort of paid relationship. They each attract slightly different visitor profiles, so it's worth thinking about which one(s) best matches your strategy. You can also look at your site analytics to see which review sites are referring traffic to you and might be a good starting point for more investment.
TY for sharing that @Lauren Stefano you just became the poster child for all of the review sites - if you get a bunch of DMs because they want you to be their advocate, let me know. I’m kidding, 🙂 But I do agree that if you want to utilize these sites and all of the information and data they can offer, it can definitely be a good idea.
DMs are open - I'll just be over here updating my sponsorship packages 😆
Thank you all!! Good to know. We are not leveraging reviews and when I asked our customers (who are developers) they don’t go to these reviews sites…. But we don’t want our competitors to have all the reviews and we don’t have any. So it is more about that than actually leveraging them with our customers.
Or prospects :)
Hi, @Valeria Gomez - our company paid for the landing page & gift cards with G2. We then drove customer reviews through CSAT follow-up, NPS follow-up, Coach promotion, and quarterly healthy customer asks.
Paying for the gift cards indirectly led to us getting ranked higher, and ultimately, we beat our competitor in one of the categories we were trying to gain traction in which was worth it 🙂
Ohh i did not know there was such a thing as paying for gift cards! Good to know! 😅
Yeah, when you drive your reviews they show up as organic and rank higher in the system.
I see- thanks much for all the knowledge 🙂
Hi @Valeria Gomez. My company also pays for a G2 subscription for multiple listings. As others have already mentioned, the ability to have G2 run campaigns for you plus the analytics you get on the backend are all great. Their content plan is really dependent on if you have a good strategy to use it…otherwise you can still access the data from their quarterly reports. You just can’t cite things an unlicensed report or promote it.
G2 is updating their pricing model starting February. I believe their website is already updated, but I would definitely connect with them as you do more research to make sure.
Thank you all! I need to test to see if our customers would actually leave us reviews since we sell to engineers, developers, scientists... From what I have gather from conversations with them, they do not go to sites like these to read about a product. They use Hackers News, Twitter (lol) and their networks for that...
So I am thinking to start just with an email campaign (I will run with a thank you gift or something) and see what sort of responds we see mainly because we dont want our competition to have all the reviews (but our space is very new). I also need to understand the intend data more. AGAIN THANK YOU!!!!
@Valeria Gomez A little late, but our customer base is very similar (IT, AppSec, developers) - I’ve received the same feedback - they’re just not looking at/caring about those sites. I have tried every trick in the book and I feel like I just can’t move the needle, lol. Do you have any data/articles that support that developers, etc just don’t care about reviews? I’d hate to continue using my time to solicit reviews if it’s not really making an impact, haha.
I'm super late here, but with G2, I've gone from free tier, to buyer intent, to licensed content package. Happy to chat with anyone on my experience with that.
@Maura Frost, I talked internally with our own developers, and they said they go to Reddit, Twitter, Medium or their own network.... Also, when I talk to customers, I ask them. So I did not have to make a strong case for it since "we already knew" We are driving some reviews to G2 so we dont stay behind but nothing very elaborated.
Thanks @Joe Kevens maybe later this year as I revisit our position there.
