I’m trying to remind myself that it’s ok to be picky when looking for the next opportunity. And not to jump at one just because it’s there. I received an offer yesterday from a company that I’m more than likely going to turn down. A lot of it gut feeling, some of it is some not-so-great Glassdoor feedback. But it’s hard to say no to something when you don’t have anything else to fall back on!

It’s awesome you got an offer so quickly. But follow your gut. Have you talked to anyone that used to be on the team?

Thanks, definitely at least some nice validation. I haven’t had the chance to speak with anyone directly, but the reviews are… illuminating

Confidence is important, and definitely hard to maintain when it wasnt your choice to leave your last job. Awesome that you have a vision for your next role! Maybe you can give a very warm intro from that hiring manager to another CMA professional who's on the hunt

I would be happy to!

Hi @Jake Sotir It’s always good to trust your gut. I was recently part of the #techlayoffs and it definitely gave me a panicked feeling of ‘I just have to find a job--any job’. Your gut feeling is powerful and shouldn’t be ignored. I’ve realized it’s important to have a trusting and optimistic relationship with the company. If you’re uneasy about the company when you start the job, it could make you feel uneasy or uncommitted--so you don’t bring your best self. Maybe see if you can connect with someone from the company through LinkedIn to get some more insight. Or talk honestly with the hiring manager to see if the company is addressing the concerns voiced in the glassdoor reviews.
