Hello, fellow job seekers! 👋 I just saw a job post that said they are looking for an “execution machine”! How does this resonate with you?

Might be meant for someone who doesn't like to do a lot of strategy. Sounds like you will be doing a ton of program/campaign execution.

This is the role. I assume it’s a contract, but I could be wrong.

It just felt dehumanizing to refer to a prospective employee as a machine…especially in the context of AI.

@Jennifer Lyons You're not wrong, impersonal and the whole JD reads like a phone book. No focus on what's in it for the candidate, so likely a chew you up and spit you out sort of thing. I don't mean to be harsh and hope I'm wrong, but doesn't look like somewhere that values marketing candidates, who are by nature creatives and aren't merely, ahem, "machines".

Well said @Joni Erdmann!

However, more and more marketing is not creative in the historic sense… it’s all about analytics now.

@Jennifer Lyons I can totally see why you'd say that, I've experienced increasing pressure there, too. But we've always had to report the quantitative fruits of our labor and defend why we utilize XYZ strategies. I maintain that our true value (to companies that are wise!) that AI or whatever else can't replace is our creativity, ingenuity, and ability to problem solve strategically, which is much more important than spitting out excel spreadsheets of impressions and views and likes and blah, blah blah...anyone can do that!

Artificial Intelligence is significantly improving. Both agentic and generative models are becoming increasingly advanced.
