 Hi customer marketing friends! I am wondering if anyone has experience launching and driving a customer referral program that would be willing to chat? Some leaders within my org are discussing launching something like this and adding it to the list of customer advocacy priorities. I'd love to get advice on learnings you may have, especially on how to make it something impactful and scaleable as our customer advocacy team is currently a 1 person show (me!).

I’m a participant in one for a company and absolutely love it since they structured it to be meaningful for myself, the potential customer, & their business.

Oooh @Joel Primack if you are able to share any details around what they've shared with you I'd love to take a peak.

General breakdown is:
• If I refer someone for a demo OR they hookup apps via their free plan then myself and the person from the customer each get a $50 gift card.
• If the company becomes a paying customer on an annual plan, I get $1,000 and they get a $3,000 discount off list price.
Hope that’s helpful, @Anna Bryan 😊

Hi @Anna Bryan fellow team of one over here! I launched a very basic program but we've gotten a LOT of referrals from it. Throwing it out there just to say that it doesn't have to be crazy intricate to work! We set up a basic pardot form and I manually fulfill the giftcards after the meeting has taken place.

Referrals seems to be one of the trickier parts of the post sale experience. So much depends on your offering, the customer base, the price points, etc.

If you have a freemium offering, it’s obviously the easiest to get both referrals and reviews as it’s almost like a trade without putting a ton of pressure on your colleagues and peers who you refer, since their is a $0 down offering that they can get value out with very little out of pocket (barring time, management, etc).

Many times, if you don’t have the above, you can get some with a simple refer and pay/donate model - low hanging fruit, but it doesn’t scale very well. Honestly, you need to build trust, value, and community first so they feel comfortable referring others to a sales demo. The rewards definitely help, but most (not all), will not trade money for their relationships if they don’t completely trust the experience.
