Hi! Has anyone automated a flow to monitor online communities that look for customers who consistently provide helpful advice or promote your brand and ask them to be advocates??

Interested in this!

I created a weighting system for acts of advocacy (within Influitive) that ranks customers as part of an ongoing report.

I haven’t automated this specifically, I think it would feel a bit Big Brother and really take away from the idea of relationships in community.

But, I would consider flagging a customer’s account (somehow) and automating a short email or direct message to them saying

“I read a few of your posts and I’d love to hear more about your experience, would you be interested in a short call?”

If they respond, I’d use my shortcut to ask them to schedule a call on my calendar.

On the call, I’d ask to hear more about their experience, working with our software, and their expertise, then ask:

Would you be interested in sharing your story more broadly to either our customers or the community?

From here, I’d nurture them into advocacy, using @Tyler Johnson idea on escalation of commitment

I have used Common Room for this

If you’re a member of communities (not ones you own), especially Slack-based ones, then you can set up keyword monitoring to see and track manually then invite people to join your advocacy program after they hit the set threshold to be invited to into it.

Thanks you guys

Yeah, I’ve just kept a spread sheet of “potential advocates” and then put in a field why they might be a good candidate. I’ll them do exactly what Mary recommended above and start the escalation of commitment. Far from automated, but it’s worked decently well for me so far
