Important info for Customer Marketers & Community members
Thread
Hey all - we are seeing a real need to create a community for customers where they can learn from one another in their respective industries. The problem I'm facing is trying to figure out the best way to cultivate this community given we are in B2B professional services and our clients are mainly VPs & C-Level Execs. My first thought is hosting a monthly or bi monthly 30. minute virtual peer group where we can bring clients together in similar industries to discuss a given topic/pain point. What else could we do?
I’d focus on:
• Talking with what potential members want
• What’s a reasonable V1 with how you’re measuring success of a program/benefit for members
• Identify the business outcomes your community will impact for your organization
Happy to chat further with you, if you’d like too!
@Joel Primack yeah so it sounds like they want more exposure to their industry peers, networking, etc.
Based on that knowledge, it does sound like a 3- or 6-month trial of a peer groups program is a great V1, @Heather Elliott
@Heather Elliott I would recommend the discussion we are having with @Ciana Abdollahian next Friday about execs and advocacy because I’m sure she will hit on how important it is to consider their persona. My own advice is a very curated roundtable chat with up to 8 peers at a time, letting them know exactly who will be on the call a head of time. Their time is massively important to them.
@Joel Primack could you write up a little explanation of what a peer groups program is? I think that is new to the CMA world even if we know and it would be super beneficial. If you want I can make it a blog on CMAweekly.
@Mary Green (Owner CMAweekly), I added that topic to a list of blog post topics to write about. Once I whip it up, let’s connect on the publishing and such.
Perfect @Joel Primack nothing perfect expected, length up to you. Honestly, it’s super valuable to have 300 words that say something solid.

My former CMO loved that group. It's exclusive to current VP-level or above marketing execs.
Heather Foeh runs it:
She'd probably be willing to connect. She is a sweetheart. 🙂
