Has anyone applied to or interviewed with Samsara? They have been posting a lot of roles over the last few weeks and we've shared a few out on our weekly job round ups, but I see the postings being renewed week after week. Scammy? Worth sharing? Appreciate the feedback!

I've seen people get hired by Samsara. My own experience is that they are VERY specific on who and when they hire. It's a culture where they told me they waited 9 months to find the 'right' person for a seemingly general customer advocacy role.
I'm connected with several team members and some of them are very talented (I don't KNOW them all, so I can't speak to that), but if I'm honest, I definitely get a sorority vibe from the recruitment process.

Yes, and they do renew the postings to keep them fresh. A lot of companies do that though.

Gotcha! For those on the market, do you think it's valuable to see their roles in the weekly roundups?

I'd skip them. Compared to the companies actively searching to fill roles, I feel like it's a waste of time to keep pushing candidates in that direction. I'd do the same for any positions that are constantly renewed over months of time.

I interviewed there years ago and had a connection on the team. I heard it is a great place to work and they did give me direct feedback why they did not move forward, which I really appreciated.

I interviewed with them several years ago. I got through 4-5 interview cycles before they sent me a rejection email. There were a couple of people who I really liked and connected with. But, I interviewed with a director/VP level who told me at the beginning of the interview they were really busy and basically not to waste their time. When the recruiter emailed to tell me I was out of consideration, I replied back and said the feeling was mutual.

Not at all related, @Emily Coleman but I recently interviewed with someone who I had given a lot of free advice. We had an hour long call set up. Within the first 10 minutes they were yawning and obviously clicking around on their screen. I knew it was going nowhere, but I didn't know what to say. They later rejected me (I believe it was the next day) and reposted the position. I really wish they would have just said "Hey, I'm not interested" instead of wasting my time.
PS: I'm sure I can bore people, but it usually is not within the first several minutes. š

They are on my no list for now. š

Yes, sorority vibe!

I think Iāve applied there at least 7 times and have maybe gotten one screening interview.

NO! The same job has been posted on and off for THREE years. I actually interviewed for the role back in 2023. RED FLAG

Yes, agree to skip them! I spoke with them back in 2021 and got a strange vibe. The ironic thing is I had just produced a case study about their company and knew about it from that experience.

Samsara is Motiveās #1 competitor and so I have a strong feeling that they are completely re-evaluating their advocacy strategy since @Liza McGraw and I crushed it competitively in 2023 and 2024 and now @Luis Gonzalez with Liza will continue that trajectory. In addition, Samsara has a new CMO, Meagan Eisenberg, who was previously at MongoDB and Lacework. She is a powerhouse. I met her in 2018 at a conference where she, as CMO at MongoDB, was ALREADY talking about the power of customer advocacy in the marketing mix. I know the main marketing recruiter there so I can tell you that I believe the roles are real.

I also think that a lot of roles are automatically reposted on LinkedIn as part of their āsubscription.ā If Iām REALLY interested in a role (and havenāt come to some sort of conclusion with the company), Iāll continue networking and working channels.
Then, I remind myself OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN: āIf itās meant for me, it wonāt pass me by.ā

Hi all, just wanted to chime in here because I just wrapped up an interview process with Samsara and wanted to share my experience.
First interview was with a recruiter, then they had me do a "2 hour" take-home assignment that was a full project proposal (big shock, took way longer than 2 hours) that I then had to present to the hiring manager on a 45 minute interview. It went well and they were excited to move forward with me and scheduled the next round (4 more interviews), had me sign an NDA, provided all these great resources to prepare for the 4 more interviews. Then called me today to tell me that they had extended an offer to a candidate that was further along in the process than me and he accepted last night. The recruiter said that this individual had initially declined the offer but changed his mind and they were "really excited" to move forward with him quickly. I don't know the exact timeline but I wouldn't have continued scheduling interviews with an offer out to another candidate, personally. Especially one that initially declined but to each their own.
Just wanted to share my very recent experience with them. Definitely disappointing to say the least.

Wow, @Bria Jones, I'm so sorry! You definitely didn't deserve that.

Iām sorry. They should have been more transparent about it. I donāt think an assignment that early is necessary either.

Sorry to hear it! Yes, it's odd to give an assignment so early on in the process.

I agree! I thought it was odd too but I really liked the role so I went ahead with it. š
